Mermaid, trumpet and fit and flare flower girl gowns.

Today I would like to explain the difference between mermaid, trumpet and fit and flare gowns?

The terms are often used to encompass all these styles, but you can differentiate between mermaid, trumpet and fit and flare dresses by where the skirt starts to flare.

  • A fit and flare skirt begins just below the hip.
  • A trumpet skirt  is when the flare begins around mid-thigh.
  • The mermaid silhouette is fitted down to the knee, and then flares out.

In designing your flower girl dresses, please keep the in mind the age of the child, and ease of walking in this type of dress.  We generally advise you to allow extra space for the child’s comfort.
